ON Wednesday rss went to the hall for singing our class sung little Liz Jane. My favorite profrmis was room 7s one.

On  Thursday room 6 went to Willard home Willard Home. I read a book to a person and I gave the person a  Picture of a Christmas tree these are some videos of Willard home. I liked reading to the person.

This year new world did Collectibles they are called little gardens we got the full set but not the dill. This is a photo of a radish.


      

Art

In 2016 brainbusters we did a-lot of art. I think It was hard because I do not like art that much but I did it. This is a photo of the best art I have done.

Chapter chat review

This year we have to do Chapter chat

The books we read were. The  Magic far-a-way tree, the person controller, because of windickse and charlottes web.

My favorite book was the person controller because it was the most creative.

Athletes day

On Wednesday rss went to the Massey track for athletes we got in to age groups. We did 3 athletes tasks then we had  morning tea then we did 2 tasks in till lunch. We did 2 tasks after lunch then it was time for the relay kea won the relay then we packed our bags and got on the bus and went to school my favorite task of the day was long jump because I was good at it.

market day

On Friday it was market day. Room 6 were doing wooden flat pack, popsicle christmas trees and candy cane reindeer.

My favourite part was when Cruze gave me a candy cane reindeer. It made me feel really good because he was being really nice. we made ($144.10⊅).

Lucas grows down

This term we have been making a movie of Lukas Grows Down.

My part in the movie was being Lukas when he was 2 years old.

My favourite part about this movie was when Henry was pulling crackers out of his mouth!
We have entered this into the Digi Awards Competition.

seedtotatable

Every Friday for 3 weeks we did Seed tonTable.  Seed to table is learning to prepare and cook dinner, tables manners and how to grow vegetables. 

My favorite thing to eat was spanakopita this is a Greek style pie. It had spinach it it and I like spinach. I really liked the cheese because it was all melted. I also liked the coleslaw because I like carrots. 

I would like to make cauliflower soup next time. 

Week 5 panekiretanga

Today during discovery I worked with Elliot to make a scorpion out of cardboard, pipe cleaners and straws. I showed Panekiretanga by not giving up - I also didn't give up when I made the Pom Pom. 

I felt happy because I don't usually play with Elliot but today I did.  I think I will play with him more now. 

Blue hat

What is the point of discovery?

Discovery helps with problem solving, and having to sort things out by talking rather than telling on each other. We get to be creative during discovery. Me and Elliot have not finished the scorpion the eyes are going to be red and we have not finished the back ether.

Eat right be bright

Today we went to watch a magic show called "Eat Right & Be Bright". Vas Kovalski was the Magician. He taught us about the importance of eating healthy. Everyday we need to eat: Fruit Vegetables Grains Protein Dairy If we eat well we will get all of the vitamins and minerals we need to be strong and healthy.

Today we went to watch a show called Kia to Toa. There were lots of messages:

Week 3 panekiretanga

This week we were focusing on having positive thoughts. Our thoughts become our words. Our words become our actions. 

Yellow hat - today I showed panekiretanga when I made the origami fortune teller. I helped other people to make them. 

Black hat - something that went wrong was some people were not included. 

Green hat - at lunchtime I will show excellence by playing with different people.

Week 2 Discovery Reflection

YELLOW HAT

What went well today?

Today something that went well was the activity that I was doing was not crowded. I thought there were going to be heaps of people that wanted to play with the Obleck. I was wrong. Lots of people thought it was gross. I didn't think it was gross!

BLACK HAT

What was a challenge today?

A challenge I had. It was not very hard but most of the time I was playing with the oobleck.

GREEN HAT

What do I want to do differently next time?

Next time something I would do differently is. I think I should fill some more buckets.

RED HAT

How did I make someone else feel? I made Bjorn feel happy because I was being funny and I was playing with the oobleck with Bjorn.

In the holidays

in the holidays I went to Wellington to watch Jack play basketball. His team came third in the tournament. We went to Weta workshop. We went to the Weta cave. We found out that they don't actually shoot a real gun. They add the sound effects after they film. If they have a big weapon and smash someone's head they just use a watermelon for head so I don't know if it is like a robot or a person with a helmet made of a watermelon.

My creature

I made my own creature this is what it tirned out like in the Description you had to do the color of the creature were it lives what it eats 

I enjoyed doing  this I think we should do more of this in term 3.

Te Reo

We have been learning to write simple sentences in Te Reo. I found it quite hard because I have had a hard time understanding. I have a bad memory - I keep forgetting the Te Reo words. BUT I did it. I didn't give up! (I wanted to give up though).

I am proud I kept going.

Maths - Area & Perimeter

In maths we are using popsicle sticks to learn about the area and perimeter of shapes. 

The perimeter is the outside measurement. The area is the number of squares inside.

Cross country

Today is cross country. I think l will come around 5th place because I am fast.

Here is a photo just after the hooter went off. I was feeling quite excited.

I came 8th place. I had big stitch. Running up the stairs tired me out!

World of Maths

Last week the World of Maths Roadshow came to our school. We had to work together to solve maths challenges.

I think brick up is the hardest but it was the most fun. For this activity we had to find the secret code by lifting blocks to make them even. We had to find the matching block to fit underneath.

Assembly

In weak 4 the brain busters had an amazing assembly.

oh no it is the real  Assembly. finally it is my  turn hhhh I mumbled. It felt like it took 5 hours I felt very nervous . it ended a little while later. Tap the links to watch

Sports Start

This term our class has been using Sports Start. We are getting better at these skills:

• running
• catching
• passing
• throwing
• jumping
• fast reactions
• batting

Our class has been playing Diamond Ball which is like Baseball/Softball.

I have improved with catching.

I really enjoyed running.

I need to keep working on hitting the ball bacause I do not have very good aim. I need o be able to hit the ball into space. 

Dance NZ Made

I have been learning a dance for dance nz made. I have decide to quit now because I don't really like dancing but I just wanted to give it a try.

How the moon was formed

Once upon time long, long ago there was no moon. Then a space man went to space with no helmet on. His head exploded off. His head became the moon. His parents were sad and their tears turned into the stars.

Planet Earth & Beyond - Pre Assessment

This term we are studying ‘Planet Earth and Beyond’. Part of this Inquiry includes looking at how we get shadows, as well as day and night. Over the term we will be doing different investigations to better our understanding. Below is a sample of my current thinking.

Term 2

This term the value we are focusing on is Responsibility(Kawenga). I will take responsibility for my learning and deliberately enter the 'learning pit'.

Active Listening

We are learning about different types of listening. There are 3 main types of listening that we learnt about. Busy Listening - When the person listening is busy doing something. They are too busy to concentrate on what is being said. Me Too Listening - When the person listening has a story that they feel is more important than the person talking so they interrupt and share their story instead of listening. Active Listening - When the person listening looks at the person talking, concentrates, gives non-verbal feedback (e.g. nodding) and asks questions about the story. To learn about the different types of listening, we watched this video:

 

 As a class we created our own video to help us understand the different types.
After practising each type of listening, we realised…

• Busy listening makes us feel like you’re not listening to us. We found it really hard to keep talking. 
• Me too listening makes us feel frustrated and sad that you think your story is more important. 
• Active listening makes us feel valued. We know you are listening because you are looking, nodding, asking questions. 

 As a class we are all trying to get better at being active listeners.

My Maths Learning

I am learning how I can use animal strips in an array to help me solve multiplication questions. I can use my 5 times tables to solve 6, 7, & 8 times tables.

Using the animal strips made this easier to do.

Van Gogh art

We are learning to paint like Van Gogh. We have read lots of books and watched some tutorials. We've experimented with painting our portraits and now we have had a go at painting sunflowers.Our paintings needs to have

• short brush strokes
• bright colours
• positive & negative images (Main object with a complementing background)
